Trail Marker 7

Another way of providing "open space" is by farming the land. These large garden plots are leased by the Taylors to various local residents. Along with the Taylor's "pick-your-own" operation, these garden plots help keep an ongoing tradition of farming. The Taylor's farm operation became entirely organic (which means they do not use chemical pesticides or fertilizers) after Rachael Carson's environmental warnings in her book Silent Spring.
